Dorchester boasts six ‘Outstanding’ schools, a vibrant high street with plenty of shops, beautiful countryside, and lots of lovely interesting things to see and do in the surrounding area. It is only 7 miles from the stunning Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage site and home to some beautiful seaside towns including Weymouth and Lyme Regis.
The town was the inspiration for Thomas Hardy’s Casterbridge and literary fans can visit his birthplace, just outside Dorchester which is now an atmospheric National Trust property open to the public and host to special events throughout the year.
Transport links to the Dorchester are reasonable. The town is served by 2 train stations which can get you to Central London in under 3 hours. The town is also about 2 and a half hours from London by car, via the M3.
