A good employer creates an environment where people want to come to work and engages them to give their best. Engagement is about attracting, recruiting, developing and inspiring great people. People who are happy and engaged in their work do a better job, which ultimately makes it easier for us to delight our customers.
As small business owners we spend a lot of time, energy and money reaching out to customers and clients. We want to make sure they’re happy, that we’re satisfying their needs. We bend over backwards to keep them satisfied. At the same time, many entrepreneurs don’t show an equal amount of concern for their employees.
Morale is boosted by employees feeling that they are valued, with gratitude being expressed and given by superiors proving important. Flexibility in the workplace is also important to increasing morale, as studies have shown that it produces less absenteeism, higher engagement and productivity.
